Mix Match Museum
Six prominent Dutch museums are handing over the reins this autumn. As of October 2014, visitors will be able to browse the collections of the Amsterdam Museum, Groninger Museum, Kröller-Müller Museum, Museum Boerhaave in Leiden, Museum TwentseWelle in Enschede and Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven at www.mixmatchmuseum.nl.With the theme ‘fascination for the modern’, curators from these museums have drawn up a shortlist of 300 objects, from which the public is invited to assemble an exhibition that they would like to see. The only condition is: there has to be a good story behind the selection. The most original exhibition proposals will be realized and can be seen in the participating museums as of Museum Week 2015 (4-11 April).
The heart of Mix Match Museum is an online platform where the 300 objects will be on display from early October. Here, everyone can see how the exhibitions develop in the hands of the participants. The curators from the six museums have each selected 50 items from their own collection, including objects and works of art that have rarely if ever been displayed in public.
Mix Match Museum has been made possible by Stichting DOEN.
