Studio Seurat: presentations
-Time table will follow soon-
The Kröller-Müller Museum presents ‘Studio Seurat’ from 29 July to 3 August. During this week, artists in the fields of visual art, music and theatre are in the museum to make new work, inspired by the exhibition Seurat. Master of pointillism. The public is actively involved in the creative process and may encounter the artists of ‘Studio Seurat’ anywhere in the museum and sculpture garden. There are ‘Meet & greets’ and the artists present the end result on Sunday 3 August.
The participating artists are:
• Daan Brinkmann – PaintR
With his paint robot PaintR, Daan attempts to unravel and reproduce Seurat’s painting style. Lawns and paths serve as the canvas for this unique painting machine and its creations. As of 30 July, a test moment will take place every afternoon.
• Miek Uittenhout – True Blue
Together with the performers Guido Pollemans and Elsa May Averill, visual artist Miek Uittenhout examines the two sides of romanticism: the longing for the romantic and the compulsion for truth. The idealized images that Georges Seurat creates in his paintings are her source of inspiration.
• Daan Hofman – The world of Seurat
In his ‘Sound laboratory’ Daan Hofman works on an audio play that revolves around the world of Seurat. Using archive material, paintings, old chansons and dance music, Hofman immerses himself in Seurat’s world.
Meet & greet and presentation day
‘Meet & greets’ with the artists will take place regularly from Wednesday 30 July to Saturday 2 August. The public is then invited to participate in the creative process by attending rehearsals and interim presentations and discussing these with the makers. On Sunday 3 August, the artists present the final results, in various locations in the sculpture garden and museum.
